FC Bayern Munich Press Conference before game at home to Köln
On potential rotation before Arsenal’s second leg
“We have a few days between Köln and Arsenal. However, there is the option of bringing in new players and making some adjustments. If we make changes, it will be more to give players a match rhythm for Wednesday than to rest anyone.”
On the title potentially being decided this weekend
“I will not watch the Leverkusen game on Sunday.” “I will watch Arsenal.”
Tuchel on Who’s Fit
“Manuel Neuer is completely on my radar as someone who can play. Aleksandar Pavlovic will have a few minutes. “Leroy Sane has reacted so that it will be tight for tomorrow.”
On Leroy Sane.
“It’s about how much pain he can take. We focused everything on him being able to play for Arsenal. He was an important factor there and played an excellent game. We are focusing on him on Wednesday because he reacted. The plan is for him to return on Sunday or Monday. However, if he plays, he will experience a reaction in his pubic bone, which will persist for the time being.
Regarding recent muscular injuries.
“I’m not sure there is a reason. But it’s been with us the entire season. We are investigating the cause, but we do not have an answer yet. Serge Gnabry has also sustained another muscle injury, which is a setback for everyone. That was a significant factor, and it is not going to stop. Stress is not an issue; we are accustomed to playing a lot. We have a fantastic physio and medical department with highly qualified staff, and everyone is doing their best.”
Regarding Alexander Nübel’s contract extension
“You can imagine anything with Manuel Neuer. If he stays healthy, he’s a fantastic custodian. Alex Nübel has done an outstanding job, and I am very pleased for him. He’s a good guy. But he’s always said that as long as Manu is here, he doesn’t see any opportunities. His loan to Stuttgart was a direct hit. Now it’s best if he stays; he might even be able to play Champions League football. There are only winners in this scenario.”
On tomorrow’s lineup
“It’s critical that both center-backs stay together, but Matthijs de Ligt and Eric Dier don’t need to play tomorrow to prepare for Wednesday. Is it possible they’ll play tomorrow, or will we give Dayot Upamecano and Minjae Kim another chance?
Again, on Sane.
“It is clear what assets and talents the boy possesses. However, we’ve been waiting for him to score a competitive goal since October. He had a great start to the season, but he has slowed down slightly. The expectations for the Arsenal first leg were high, and he delivered. We expect him to keep pushing himself, and he’ll be an important player for us.”
Who will play at left-back?
“We have several options. We can either swap Raphael Guerreiro for Noussair Mazraoui, who has also played there for Morocco. I’m not sure if either of them will be able to play 90 minutes against Köln, but we’ll give them both playing time to prepare for Wednesday.”
On who will replace him on the sidelines
“Zsolt Löw and Anthony Barry are on the bench, so I have to watch from the stands. It’s not ideal, but we’ll make it work.”
